Why Watch Dev Diwali from a Boat?
The ghats are extremely crowded on Dev Diwali and roads near the river close to vehicles in the evening, so the best and most comfortable way to see the celebration is from the Ganga. A boat gives you a front-row, panoramic view of the illuminated ghats, the Ganga Aarti, the Laser Show and the Fire Show – all in one evening, without pushing through the crowds.
With Tour Kashi, guests report at 04:00 PM at Ravidas Ghat, Nagwa, and the Dev Diwali boat ride runs from 05:30 PM to 09:00 PM. Choose a Motor Boat, Bajra or Luxury Cruise (AC, Washroom) – prices start from ₹3,999 per person. Since seats for Dev Diwali 2026 fill up weeks in advance, we recommend booking early.

Dev Diwali 2026 Date in Varanasi: Tuesday, 24 November 2026
Dev Diwali 2026, also called Dev Deepawali, the “Diwali of the Gods”, will be celebrated in Varanasi on Tuesday, 24 November 2026, the full-moon night of Kartik Purnima. It falls fifteen days after Diwali and is the biggest night of the year on the ghats of Kashi.
According to Hindu belief, the gods descend to Kashi on this night to celebrate Lord Shiva's victory over the demon Tripurasura, which is why Kartik Purnima is also known as Tripuri Purnima. Devotees begin the day with a holy dip in the Ganga (Kartik Snan), and as the sun sets, lakhs of clay diyas are lit along all 84 ghats, from Assi Ghat to Raj Ghat, turning the entire riverfront into a river of light.
What Happens on Dev Diwali Evening in Varanasi
- ✓ Lakhs of diyas lit on all 84 ghats of Varanasi after sunset
- ✓ Grand Dev Deepawali Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat
- ✓ Laser Show and Fire Show (fireworks) over the Ganga
- ✓ Cultural performances as part of the Ganga Mahotsav celebrations
